Celebrity Dog House - Project
As a class assignment, students were tasked with making a 3D model of a dog house themed around a celebrity. Courage from Courage the Cowardly Dog Show was chosen as the theme for this project. Students were in charge of modeling, textures, lighting, and final renders. Throughout the process, students showed works of progress and explained their methods in creating different elements for the model.
Concept Sketch & Insperation
Before modeling, students were asked to create a sketch of their idea and explain how the process of modeling would go to achieve what they envisioned. Inspiration was taken from the farmhouse in the show.
3D Model
The model was first constructed before making textures and adding lighting. Throughout the process, works in progress were shown and described. Students were allowed to use a given basic dog house to use as a basis or start from complete scratch. The given model was used as a guide for measurements and basic shapes/construction.
Textures
Students were allowed to make their own textures, find textures online or use the default ones in the Maya program. To get a cartoonish feel and color textures were drawn by hand. Bumpmaps were also created based on the textures to give the elements more definition.
Final Output
After the textures were created and implemented, lighting and background were created for the final outcome.
